The Aeolus successfully combines beauty with exceptional design, using quality materials like leather, metal, and wood. The stock wood used on the Aeolus is Sapele.
All ZMF headphones feature a suspension headband, with one metal piece holding the structure at the cups and one strap resting on the head.This is an ideal design for most people, as it prevents hotspots and discomfort.
The headband is made of cowhide leather and has one of the best feels out of all of the pairs. The metal gimbals seem to be really sturdy and have no play. ZMF offers a magnesium chassis option for their limited models, reducing weight.
The wooden ear cups combined with the TPE driver’s grills are eye-catching. The Sapele grain is gorgeous and makes every headphone unique. Overall, these are some of the few headphones I genuinely find stunning.

All ZMF ear pads are very comfortable and this model is no exception. The Aeolus has good ventilation and uses soft leather. The ear cavity is 56x71mm and moderately deep, so most people shouldn’t have trouble fitting.
With its large plush pads, good grip, and suspension headband, the Aeolus’ weight shouldn’t be problematic. It has top-notch weight distribution, and bending the metal headband to size will add to comfort as well.
Once the headband is correctly adjusted, the Aeolus headphones are one of the most comfortable “weighty” pairs.
ZMF – Aeolus High-Quality Audio
The Aeolus uses dynamic drivers. These are, by far, the most common type of headphone driver in existence, appearing in virtually every pair of mass-market headphones out there. They usually tend to be less expressive, especially in terms of soundstage, than the more high-end planar magnetic driver type – here’s more if you are interested.
The Aeolus is built on a solid foundation and they present a surprisingly wide and deep soundstage, with instruments coming from all around you.
There is no doubt that the Aeolus is a bass-heavy pair of headphones. The sub-bass extension is also quite solid, considering it’s a dynamic driver in an open-back design. A pleasant rumble can be heard without any problems.
