ZMF – Verité Closed (Monkeypod Wood)
The ZMF – Verité Closed (Monkeypod Wood) is most closed headphone, isolating extremely well against outside noise. The sonic signature of the Verite Closed is meant to companion the open Vérité.
While the open Verite is a quick, smooth, and 3D experience, the closed Verite accentuates imaging while retaining 3D space, sub-bass rumbles without being overly boosted. And the immediate snap with the weight that only a closed headphone brings is present.
ZMF’s MonkeyPod comes from South America and has a beautiful rich colour that ZMF stains a touch darker to bring out the grain and porous nature of the wood. MonkeyPod is both very lightweight, and a little harder in density than similarly weighted woods. It gives a fast spacious timbre due to its large pores and harder density.
Aesthetic Design for Optimum Comfort
The closed model features a complete wooden outer shell that comes in a stock Monkeypod wood finish. One major difference is that the closed model does not have the porting near the headband connects that the open does, which for obvious reasons prevents noise leakage.
As mentioned before, the Verite models opt for a Beryllium coated PEN driver that has great stiffness and rigidity while also being fast in transient responses. The drivers are suspended in a proprietary rubber composite system exclusive to only ZMF headphones.
The adjusting rod mechanism is initially stiff from first use but does get easier to use with time. The tops of the rods have been made flat to give the headphones a more chic look as opposed to a more antenna-like feel from previous iterations. The ear-cups themselves are fully rotatable in both vertical and horizontal planes, allowing the listener to achieve an optimal fit.
The Verite closed weights 450 to 475 grams depending on the choice of wood and grill material. While not the lightest headphones around, both offer a comfortable listening experience with evenly weighted headband pressure and superior comfort pads.
Materials have also been chosen to keep the weight to what it currently is with the use of featherweight magnesium chassis and wood finish. Silkwood for the close model and monkeypod is light wood options. With the latter being porous in nature allowing for a more spacious timbre.
Perfect Sound Quality with Beryllium coated PEN driver
With the Verite Closed, ZMF has created a headphone that brings the ultimate truth to audio. While tuning our latest closed headphones, ZMF implements all-new airflow technology to make a closed headphone sound spatially accurate. Utilizing ZMF’s proprietary Beryllium coated PEN driver, a featherweight magnesium chassis. And our most complex acoustic design yet, the Verite Closed gives you everything you’ve ever wanted from a closed headphone.

Final Thoughts on ZMF – Verité Closed (Monkeypod Wood)
The Verite Closed is a rare breed. A headphone that is uncompromisingly resolving, yet musical. Blisteringly dynamic, yet easy to listen to for hours on end.
What’s more, it wasn’t picky. it is pretty equally on tubes, solid-state, hybrid. And straight out of the FiiO M11 Pro DAP. In every case, the Verite Closed showed composure, nuance, space, and tons of macrodynamic slam.
This is not always an easy combo to achieve. ZMF’s Atticus and Sennheiser’s HD800, for example, are two headphones that change quite a bit, depending on the amplification. The Verite Closed had some nuanced differences. But you won’t need to change your amplification in order to fully enjoy it.
If you’re looking for an end-game closed back that delivers resolution, space, and musicality; is versatile and dynamic in sound, and can be driven easily with your full-size rig and DAPs alike. Verite Closed is the total package and an absolute must-audition.
